Nottingham Forest V Brighton (March 30, 2013)
Match preview
After failing to capture an extra striker
before the loan transfer window slammed shut on Thursday evening, Brighton will
be heavily reliant on the services of Leo Ulloa at the City Ground today as
they look for their first away success in four games.
The international break has been a nervy
time for the Seagulls, after strong speculation that Gus Poyet could be leaving
the Amex to take charge of Premier League strugglers. Those rumours were
finally put to bed on Wednesday when Nigel Adkins was appointed Reading’s boss,
allowing Brighton to focus on their own ambitions to be a Premier League side
and build on the momentum generated by their 3-0 victory at home to Crystal
Palace.
For Nottingham Forrest, Billy Davies, the
side’s fourth manager in seven months, has turned fortunes around at the City
Ground since his reappointment in February and is looking for his seventh win
in eight games.
With the exception of Henri Lansbury (Calf)
who is a doubt after returning injured from international duty, Davies has the
luxury of choosing from a fully fit squad.
Inigo Calderon is expected to keep his
place at right-back for the visitors, with Bruno (Calf) still sidelined. Tomaz
Kuszczak should start in goal for Brighton, after recovering from an injury to
his lower back, which forced the keeper to withdraw from international duty
with Poland.
Upfront, Top scorer Craig Mackail – Smith
(Achilles) and Will Hoskins (Knee) are both sidelined for the rest of the
season and Ashley Barnes is suspended, leaving Ulloa as the only first-team
striker available for the Albion.
With Crystal Palace, Leister and Watford
all failing to win on Good Friday, both teams will be looking to capitalise,
knowing that a win will be a significant boost for their playoff
aspirations.
